Resumo em Inglês: The objective of this work was to evaluate the impact of the initial soil water condition in the summer forecasts of the South America. The regional Eta model coupled to the land surface scheme SSiB was used in the accomplishment of the experiments. Three groups of experiments had been considered in integration of 3 months, all initialized with the observed atmosphere condition in the beginning of December of 1996. In the first group, two sets of experiments had been carried. In the control case, the initial soil water condition was the climatology. In the sensitivity case, called "realist", the soil moisture used for the initialization of the SSiB was gotten of a hydrologic model. The results of the validation of the model show its good performance in the forecast of the precipitation of summer 96/97. In quantitative terms the model underestimation rain in the Amazon, while that in the other regions the results are in agree to the observations. With regard to initialization of the soil water from a hydrologic model, the result was depending on the region. The better's results were observed in Amazon and Northeast regions. In the central region the correlation index was reduced in relation to the control case. The degree for which the initialization of the soil water improves the forecast of precipitation, relative to the observations, is varied and reflects the importance and the necessity for the improvement of the parameterization of the soil water in the surface schemes. In the second group of experiments, called of "extremes cases", two conditions of initialization of the soil water had been considered: moist and dry. The biggest impact of the change in the soil moisture in these cases was in the budge of radiation and energy to the surface through modification of the partition of the available energy. The alteration of these budges was passed to the atmosphere through the variation of the profile of temperature and humidity until about 700 hPa, and influencing in the condition of instability of air. The strong gradient of the soil water between the coast north of the South America and the inward of the continent contributed so that the precipitation in this sector was intensified in the moist case and weakened in the dry case. In the atmospheric budge of humidity the biggest variation of the flux of humidity convergence was on the Amazon, where the convergence in low levels in the moist case was intensified in the dry case. In average levels the convergence of the moist case gave to bind to one strong divergence of the flux of humidity in the dry case. The alteration of the circulation was resulted of the modification of the atmospheric instability verified by the change of the vertical distribution of the moist static energy. In the third group of experiments, the same soil water conditions (climatology, moist and dry) had been adopted. However, the analysis was carried for a specific event of the South Atlantic Convergence Zone (SACZ). The results show that the increase of the soil moisture contributes for the intensification of the draining of low levels directed for the convergence zone. In the dry case, this flux that it carries humidity of the Amazon for the subtropical region was weakened, and the humidity carrier was directed for the south sector of the South America.
