Resumo: There a major concern that has been present in the debates about the social movements for more than two decades which is that the education offered to the rural workers has not been a priority in the public policy agendas. Thus, this study aims to analyze the process of education of a rural settlement in the city of Canindé-CE. It aims to share with the scientific and academic communities, some reflections and conclusions about the historical background of rural farm workers' education in Brazil, and Ceara in the Northeast, as well as identifying the advances, limitations and possibilities for the people to remain in the rural areas with a good quality of life. The methodological procedure initially included bibliographical studies, with the goal of reviewing relevant works that address the topic, in order to write the chapter that deals with the theoretical framework, and then to do document research. Therefore documents from the Santa Rita Elementary School were analyzed, namely: the Pedagogical Policy Project (PPP), the Internal Regulations (IR) and the Reports of the School Office. As a result it was found that one of the large challenges of the school is the rethinking of its importance and its significance as a space for mobilization and training of community life. For this to happen it will be necessary to strengthen the teaching and continuing education for professionals dedicated to the field of education, as well as the implementation of public policies toward the valorisation of professionals and the improving of the educational infrastructure of the rural settlement.

Assim, este trabalho tem como objetivo analisar o processo de educação de um assentamento na cidade de Canindé-CE. Tem o propósito de compartilhar com as comunidades científica e escolar, algumas reflexões e conclusões sobre o panorama histórico da educação campesina no Brasil, no Nordeste e no Ceará, bem como identificar os avanços, limites e possibilidades do ser humano permanecer no campo com qualidade de vida. O procedimento metodológico compreendeu inicialmente estudos bibliográficos, com o objetivo de se revisar obras relevantes que abordam o assunto, para se construir o capítulo que trata do referencial teórico, e em seguida, pesquisa documental. Para tanto foi feita uma análise dos documentos da Escola de Ensino Fundamental Santa Rita, a saber: Projeto Político Pedagógico (PPP), Regimento Interno (RI) e Relatórios da Secretaria Escolar. Como resultado constatou-se que um dos grandes desafios da escola está em se repensar a sua importância e o seu significado como espaço de mobilização e formação da vida da comunidade. Para que isso ocorra é necessário o fortalecimento no fazer pedagógico e na formação continuada dos profissionais voltada para a educação do campo, bem como a implementação de políticas públicas na direção da valorização dos profissionais e da melhoria da infraestrutura educacional do assentamento.Made available in DSpace on 2016-06-17T20:31:17Z (GMT).
