There a major concern that has been present in the debates about the social movements for more than two decades which is that the education offered to the rural workers has not been a priority in the public policy agendas. Thus, this study aims to analyze the process of education of a rural settlement in the city of Canindé-CE. It aims to share with the scientific and academic communities, some reflections and conclusions about the historical background of rural farm workers' education in Brazil, and Ceara in the Northeast, as well as identifying the advances, limitations and possibilities for the people to remain in the rural areas with a good quality of life. The methodological procedure initially included bibliographical studies, with the goal of reviewing relevant works that address the topic, in order to write the chapter that deals with the theoretical framework, and then to do document research. Therefore documents from the Santa Rita Elementary School were analyzed, namely: the Pedagogical Policy Project (PPP), the Internal Regulations (IR) and the Reports of the School Office. As a result it was found that one of the large challenges of the school is the rethinking of its importance and its significance as a space for mobilization and training of community life. For this to happen it will be necessary to strengthen the teaching and continuing education for professionals dedicated to the field of education, as well as the implementation of public policies toward the valorisation of professionals and the improving of the educational infrastructure of the rural settlement.
