The research developed in this dissertation analyses the Museum of Venâncio Aires in the light of the community history, focusing on its identity references linked to associativism. The interpretation on the reasons which led to the donation of pieces to the formation of the museum heritage collection was emphasized, as well as the financial donations to the purchase of the Museum head office building, these actions were established in the second semester of 1994, growing bigger in the following years. The issues related to the memory were taking into consideration, on a perspective associated to the community and history, as a means of understanding the conservation processes which took place in the mentioned town. Thus, a theoretical base on the historical process linked to conservation was sought, as well as the understanding of the town history and the study of the museological institution through alternative focus towards the factual reflection. The present study focused on some estimation topics related to the museum building (head office building), as well as understanding the representations of part of pieces collection maintained by the institution.
