The object of study of the research that integrates the present dissertation fall on the examination of the professional formation in Social Work in the modality of Distance Education (EAD) and the logic of the expansion of the Brazilian higher education, based on the examination of the profile of the courses and matrices In the historical and theoretical-methodological foundation.We examine the trajectory of Brazilian higher education, the trends of educational policies prevailing in the twentieth century and the first decades of the twenty-first century: the debate and positioning of the professional and student organizations of the Brazilian Social Service - ABEPSS, CFESS and ENESSO - and the bibliographic studies of reference on the subject, with priority for works, publications and researches of authors of the areas of Social Work and Education. The analysis of the configuration of Brazilian higher education contextualizes the reflections on the project of formation of Social Work, expressed in the Curriculum Guidelines of the Brazilian Association of Teaching and Research of Social Work (ABEPSS) of 1996, and the forms of resistance of the category against growing commercial privatization of higher education. The methodological procedures include bibliographical and documentary research on the subject of higher education and distance learning. The analyzes carry out indicate that in the Social Service the offer of courses in the distance modality causes lowering and lowering of the training in Social Work, with its multiplication in rapid speed, being responsible for the formation of a professional profile that installs a contradiction to the ethical-political project and the critical intellectual culture of the profession, opening gaps both in the understanding of bourgeois sociability and in the self-representation of profession, with reference to conservatism - theoretical, political and cultural.
