Resumo: This search has the purpose to demonstrate that memory and history are strictly linked, had in order that through of memory is possible to realize at present the reconstitution of facts past, objecting the extension the same. The text memorialistic allows rescue facts that can be apparently forgotten in our memory. The subject which remember can to recover from your own experiences, individual memory, or from experiences of all the people that make up social group where he belongs, collective memory. To analyze these aspects here appointed, it was chosen by romance Memórias do Cárcere, by Graciliano Ramos to be a work that subject narrator is used of memory to reconstruct the experience acquired for the period what was arrested in result the dictatorship by Vargas. These events were experienced in the past and only ten years o the official history, but the parallel history this, making us understand one of the most sad episodes of national history. O texto memorialístico possibilita resgatar fatos que possam estar aparentemente esquecidos em nossa memória. O sujeito que lembra pode recuperar a partir de sua própria vivência, memória individual, ou a partir da vivência de todas as pessoas que compõem o grupo social no qual está inserido, memória coletiva. Paraanalisar esses aspectos aqui apontados, escolheu-seo romance Memórias do Cárcere, de Graciliano Ramos, por ser uma obra em que o sujeito narrador se utiliza da memória para reconstituir a experiência adquirida durante o período em que esteve preso em decorrência da Ditadura de Vargas. Esses acontecimentos foram vivenciados no passado e somente dez anos depois são registrados por meio da escrita. Graciliano conta-nos não a história oficial, mas uma história paralela a esta, fazendo-nos compreender um dos mais tristes episódios da história nacional.
