The Basic Education Maintenance and Development Fund and Education Professionals Valuation (FUNDEB) is a financing mechanism of public basic education, which was established in 2007 and renewed in 2020, with new rules and parameters. The new Fundeb increased the Union's participation in the fund, it has created resource distribution discretion and established new conditionalities to receive federal supplementation. The general objective of this work is to learn and analyze the new Fundeb, as a public basic education financing policy and its effects in Goiás counties. The specific objectives are: (a) present the new Union supplements to Fundeb (VAAF, VAAT, VAAR) and its implications for basic education in Goiás; (b) identify the counties that were covered by the Union's supplements into Fundeb and those who were not and analyze this action's reasons; (c) discuss challenges and perspectives for equity in basic education in Goiás counties, considering the political, economic, social and educational aspects. The research methodology adopted is the dialectical historical materialist approach, which seeks to understand reality based on contradictions, of relations and social transformations. The research has a qualitative nature, based on official data, legislation, documents, articles and books about the subject. The results indicate that the new Fundeb and its complements represent an advance for the public basic education financing in Goiás, but also presents limitations and challenges in its operationalization, that require integrated and articulated action, between federated entities, to ensure education quality and equity in Goiás counties.
