Storytelling encourages the child to interact with different realities. Children’s literature can guide them, offering space to explore and expand imagination and creativity, contributing to the full development of the children, as it allows them to work on physical performance and vocabulary enrichment. For this literary proposal, the research presented gymnastics with a story as a resource that integrates narrative and movement, allowing the children to become more actively involved in the process of telling and listening, in a way that they play a leading role as participants in the story, as in this phase of curiosity and discoveries they are not pleased with just listening to a story, they wish to interact in an active way. In this perspective, we brought the literary corpora O grande rabanete (2002), by Tatiana Belinky and Vamos à caça do urso (2021), by Michael Rosen, that present playful narratives full of engaging movements, ideal to work within this interactive proposal. From this viewpoint, the study aimed to analyze how gymnastics with a story is constituted as a practice that instigates the literary formation and global development of young children. The study was enriched by the contributions of Zumthor (2018), who was fundamental for the construction of literary performance of the child’s body through gymnastics with a story, Eco (1996), Bedran (2015) and official documents that guide early childhood education, within them the BNCC (Brasil, 2017), in addition to other scholars that bring considerations regarding children, childhood, children’s literature, storytelling and other subjects relevant to the research. The analysis and reflections produced allowed the comprehension of gymnastics with a story as a device that articulates body and narrative in Early Childhood Education. The research showed this proposal’s relevance for the strengthening of the imaginary, for the extension of reading practices and for the development of new theoretical and methodological perspectives, contributing to the academic debate on childhood, literature and education
