The present work has the first objective to examine decisions rendered by the Judiciary in the Federal District, in order to evaluate its readability. It presents the methodology used, including the origin, the study and the application of formulas indicative of the degree difficulty in understanding a text, using a specific software to obtain the data contained in this work. It addresses the movement of the plain language, the principles it adopts and the implications in the language used in law. It demonstrates the information obtained in the form of graphs and analyzes the degree of understanding of judgments and judgments compared to the level of schooling. The second objective is to present the results of an experiment applied at a higher education institution in order to evaluate the understanding of judicial decisions by university students. It gives a brief indication about the experiments, how they are used for the production of scientific knowledge, how this approach is practically used in Law and how the studies in reading evaluation help the studies done in this research. It presents the premises, the hypotheses, the design and the methodology in the tests proposed to groups of graduates of two courses (Civil Engineering and Law). It presents the results obtained in the form of tables and graphs, analyzing the data from a legal point of view.
