Resumo: This dissertation aims to investigate the family, social and professional trajectories of soldiers who are in a situation of chemical dependency. In addition, we sought to identify possible aspects that relate chemical dependence to the professional trajectory of these military personnel, as well as to know their social context, as well as their family history and search for treatment. The theoretical basis was based on the systemic perspective of understanding alcohol and / or drug addiction, in the current Public Policies for the treatment of alcohol and / or drug users in Brazil, as well as the provisions of the military regulations on the use of these substances . To achieve this purpose, a qualitative research was carried out, in which three adult men were interviewed, all of whom were in one of the Military Organizations located in the Federal District, and were in a chemical dependency situation. The information was analyzed through content analysis, by Laurence Bardin (2011), creating five distinct categories of analysis, through which it was possible to highlight relevant aspects of chemical dependence among the military of the Armed Forces. The first category revealed that workrelated aspects of the Armed Forces, such as: night services, high stress, in addition to long periods of family alienation and solitude on the high seas, have contributed to the part of the interviewees. The second category demonstrated that the Armed Forces have undertaken preventive actions and provided therapeutic and hospitalization treatments to the military in situations of chemical dependency. The third category revealed that issues related to the family dynamics of respondents, such as family rules and roles, as well as family relationships and communication, to some extent contributed to the development of the respondents' chemical dependence. The fourth category demonstrated that the support and trust of the family were essential for the success of the treatments to which the interviewees were subjected. Finally, the fifth category revealed that the social context of the interviewees presented important contributions to the development of chemical dependence. The study therefore demonstrates that the family is extremely important for the prevention and treatment of abusive use of alcohol and / or other drugs, that social contexts also tend to act as a risk factor or to protect the adoption of this behavior abusive behavior, and that some behaviors characteristic of these users of alcohol and / or drugs are considered by military regulations as being disciplinary transgressions, which tends to cause many of these professionals to omit their condition and, consequently, not to seek the treatments that they are made available by the Armed Forces.

Submitted by Sara Ribeiro (sara.ribeiro@ucb.br) on 2019-05-17T18:58:55Z No. of bitstreams: 1 RenataCardosodeOliveiraDissertacao2018.pdf: 1214241 bytes, checksum: 674227e137d6d4e431fcf231d284746f (MD5)Approved for entry into archive by Sara Ribeiro (sara.ribeiro@ucb.br) on 2019-05-17T18:59:10Z (GMT) No. of bitstreams: 1 RenataCardosodeOliveiraDissertacao2018.pdf: 1214241 bytes, checksum: 674227e137d6d4e431fcf231d284746f (MD5)Made available in DSpace on 2019-05-17T18:59:10Z (GMT).
