This study consists in draw the profile of the family farming in the municipality of Turvo, considering its diversification in social, economic and cultural environment. For analyzing this segment to identify the diversity ranging from the traditional way called "peasant family agriculture" as well as the most current forms represented modernized family farming and traditional communities. We present the debates in different branches of science. We also look at the increasing transformation in rural areas and the inclusion of family farming to markets and altering the relations of rural society. However, this debate has a relevant conceptual theoretical weight of the term family farming, these concept designs generate a diversity of interpretations and prepositions, reflecting segment the ideas of conducting the discussion. Another main key point in the construction of the research that it is necessary to highlight the researcher's direct link with the surveyed communities, on the one hand it facilitates the understanding of reality, on the other empirical weight makes it difficult to theoretical analysis and increases accountability, cause there is interaction in daily life with the object of research.
