This dissertation analyzes the urban and territorial dynamics of Avenida Brasil in Anápolis, Goiás, concept of fixities and flows. The objective is to understand how the avenue, a key axis for the circulation of goods and people, reflects the socio-spatial contradictions of contemporary urbanization, marked by selective distribution of infrastructure and services. Divided into three major regions (South, Central, and North), Avenida Brasil presents different economic and social characteristics that reveal territorial inequality and the coexistence of centralities and marginalized areas. The research discusses how the technical- scientific-informational environment influences the spatial configuration of the avenue, driving both development and urban segregation. The southern region concentrates activities related to the automotive sector; the central region stands out for its commerce and services; and the northern region, still expanding, shows more diversified land use. Each of these areas reflects the impact of selective urbanization policies, which favor certain regions, generating spatial disparities. Moreover, the dissertation explores the emergence of new centralities along the avenue, where high economic activity zones coexist with low-intensity areas, often neglected by public authorities. The critical analysis seeks to understand how economic, political, and social agents shape urban space in an unequal manner, reinforcing spatial segregation. The regionalization of Avenida Brasil is employed as a methodology to understand the specificities of each segment and its implications for Anápolis' urban development. Finally, the dissertation contributes to the debate on urban transformations in medium-sized cities like Anápolis, highlighting the tensions between economic development and spatial justice.
