Resumo: Introduction: The significant increase of women in the prison environment in the last decades has brought about the growth of the number of infants in penitentiaries. However, Brazil has a legal system that guarantees full protection and exclusive breastfeeding in this environment. Objective:To understand the knowledge of legal guarantees and daily practices for the breastfeeding of infants, mothers deprived of their liberty in prisons and health professionals of the penitentiary system.Methodological approach: Study of a qualitative nature, conducted between April and November of 2017. The subjects of the survey were women deprived of their liberty who were breastfeeding in a prison environment, and all the basic health staff of the penitentiary. The sample of women was by theoretical saturation. For data collection, we used an interview with semi-structured script. After transcriptions, the data analysis followed the methodological proposal of Bardin Content Analysis. Results: It was possible to see that mothers deprived of their liberty and prison health workers know the right to breastfeeding, but they do not know how to specify the legal instruments. On the one hand, the wife does not comply with the law, exclusively breastfeeds her child and favors with small benefits and, on the other hand, health professionals do not observe if the rights of the children are being respected, in addition, they allow food and do not enforce the law.Conclusions: Breastfeeding in the prison environment is protected by a whole legal apparatus, aiming to guarantee the exclusive breastfeeding rights of infants, however, there is noncompliance with legislation by mothers and professionals. The daily practices that influence breastfeeding in the unit and that are adopted by mothers and health professionals have not always had positive repercussions on breastfeeding, disregarding the practice of exclusive breastfeeding.

Todavia, o Brasil dispõe de um ordenamento jurídico que garante a proteção integral e a amamentação exclusiva neste ambiente. Objetivo: Compreender o conhecimento das garantias jurídicas e das práticas diárias para a amamentação de lactentes, de mães privadas de liberdade em ambiente prisional e de profissionais de saúde do sistema penitenciário. Caminho metodológico: do Estudo de natureza qualitativa, realizado entre abril a novembro de 2017. Os sujeitos da pesquisa foram mulheres privadas de liberdade que estavam amamentando em ambiente prisional, e toda a equipe de saúde básica da penitenciária. A amostra das mulheres se deu por saturação teórica. Para coleta de dados, utilizou-se uma entrevista com roteiro semiestruturado. Após transcrições, a análise dos dados seguiu a proposta metodológica de Análise de Conteúdo de Bardin. Resultados: Foi possível perceber que as mães privadas de liberdade e os profissionais de saúde da unidade prisional conhecem o direito à amamentação, mas, não sabem precisar os instrumentos legais. De um lado a mulher não cumpre a lei, de amamentar exclusivamente o seu filho e se favorece com pequenos benefícios e por outro lado os profissionais de saúde não observam se os direitos das crianças estão sendo respeitados, além disso, permitem a entrada de alimentos e não fazem cumprir a lei. Conclusões: A amamentação no ambiente prisional está resguardada por todo um aparato legal, objetivando garantir o direito a amamentação exclusiva dos lactentes, porém, existe o descumprimento da legislação por parte das mães e dos profissionais. As práticas diárias que influenciam na amamentação na unidade e que são adotadas pelas mães e pelos profissionais de saúde nem sempre repercutiram positivamente no aleitamento materno, desfavorecendo a prática da amamentação exclusiva.Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPESapplication/pdfUniversidade Estadual da ParaíbaPrograma de Pós-Graduação em Saúde Pública - PPGSPUEPBBRPró-Reitoria de Pós-Graduação e Pesquisa - PRPGPPró-Reitoria de Pós-Graduação e Pesquisa - PRPGPHuman dignityPrisonsBreastfeedingSAUDE COLETIVADignidade humanaAleitamento maternoPrisõesAmamentação no ambiente prisional: Conhecimentos e práticasinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersioninfo:eu-repo/semantics/masterThesisCavalcanti, Alessandro Leitehttp://lattes.cnpq.br/4751883787176824Morais, Fátima Raquel Rosadohttp://lattes.cnpq.br/8086396650395631Costa, Gabriela Maria Cavalcantihttp://lattes.cnpq.br/3232838572182194http://lattes.cnpq.br/7689788928952150Jesus, Amanda Costa Freitas deinfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessporreponame:Repositório Institucional da Universidade Estadual da Paraíba (UEPB)instname:Universidade Estadual da Paraíba (UEPB)instacron:UEPBLICENSElicense.txtlicense.txttext/plain;
