Resumo: The nursing assistance given with quality is based both on care provide as in securing a secure medication therapy. Therefore knowledge of the basic properties and the Pharmacologic Actions of medications are essentials in nursing practice in the pre-administration, in dose and administration in the evaluation and promotion of therapeutic effects, identification and reduction of adverse effects and drug interactions. Therefore the drug interactions need to be reconsidered to exercise the activity of administering medications with quality and security. It was developed up this study with the objective to analyze the knowledge of nurses in a hospital unit about the interactions medicinal. It is a study descriptive-cross study, performed through a quantitative approach. The sample was composed by 26 nurses who accepted to participate the study. For the data collection used a questionnaire adapted from other studies. For data analysis we used the statistical package SPSS, version 17.0 for Windows ® (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences). The Software Excel 2007© was used to make the construction of the database. As for the profile, nurses present an average age of 31.1 years, 7.0 years of experience in nursing and 4.8 years of working in that institution. About training in pharmacology in graduation, 53.8% reported that it was insufficient, 23.1% reported low workload in graduation courses. It is found that 53,8% of nurses believe their pharmacological knowledge unsatisfactory and seek remedy the difficulties referring to specific literature. It was found that 84,6% of nurses after graduation did not attend refresher course in pharmacology. In concerning his training in pharmacology, 73% considered to have had regular training graduation. Regarding Knowledge of the interactions, there was greater success in doubles gentamicin + vanocomycin (80.8%), captopril + morphine (80.8 %) and vancomycin + regular insulin (80.8%) and a larger error in the dual regular insulin + norfloxacin (92.3%). Results show that it is often difficult to detect a drug interaction in practice. The nursing professionals should be sensitive to drug interactions, and should be able to recognize clinical signs of a potential interaction and to suggest appropriate interventions.

The nursing professionals should be sensitive to drug interactions, and should be able to recognize clinical signs of a potential interaction and to suggest appropriate interventions.
