Análise do uso da técnica literária Eye dialect e das estratégias de compensação na tradução dialetal de “A cor púrpura” para o português brasileiro

The aim of this paper is to analyze the use of the literary technique of Eye Dialect in the construction of the heterogeneity of Celie, the protagonist of A Cor Púrpura, a 1983 translation of Alice Walker's epistolary novel The Color Purple, released the previous year. The general objective of the work is to investigate, with the help of Eugene A. Nida's Theory of Reference - Dynamic Equivalence in the foreground and, in the background, with the support of Corpus Linguistics tools to obtain data, how the Eye Dialect is used throughout the protagonist's letters, highlighting the quantity and especially the quality of the occurrences of the preposition “para” and its derived forms in the agglutination process and in the creation of new terms in the translation and how they were used or not in the compensation processes and strategies within the target text. The theoretical basis includes Sinclair (1991), Sardinha (2004), Arrojo (1986) and Johnson (1988), in the Corpus Linguistics area, Newmark (2001) in the classification, definition and analysis of compensation strategies within A Cor Púrpura, Zhu (2021) as a model and inspiration for analysis and a theoretical-methodological framework, in addition to Brett (2009), Walpole (1974), Krapp (1926) and Chambers & Trudgill (1998), about the concepts of Dialect and Eye Dialect, among others. The research follows a descriptive-exploratory, qualitative-quantitative approach, with a more qualitative approach to analysis, and is carried out through analysis of the corpus of letters from the novel's main character. The ANTCONC software was used to collect quantitative data related to the use of the preposition “para” in the agglutination processes within Celie's letters. The data obtained were organized according to their classifications. The general language Portuguese corpora used were Lacio-Web and CETENFOLHA, and the alignment tool chosen was YOUALIGN. For data analysis, Nida (1964, 1982, 1993 and 2002), Newmark (2001) and Zhu (2021) were used to better observe compensation strategies or the application of deviations in the same place as the source text and with a similar meaning in the dialectal translation made. A pilot study shows the following preliminary results: within the use of Eye Dialect, in the form of agglutination, of the 15 types of occurrences, 10 are linked to the use of the preposition “para”. Thus, provoking more spontaneity and humanization in Celie's letters, bringing them even closer to the spoken language and its oral rhythm. The use of compensation strategies in a dialectal translation of a delectable character that, in the source text (The Color Purple), is linked to ethnic-cultural aspects to another, in the meta text (A Cor Púrpura), which is inserted in a more socioeconomic field, ends up promoting tools for a greater representation of humanized characters through humanized writing/speech in literary works.
