Urban spaces produce and reproduce social, economic, cultural, and gender inequalities. This is a phenomenon inherent to the city, as it is, in itself, the sum total of the relationships that occur within it. As a result, the imbalances present in the relationships between women and men also make up the intertwined network of relationships in what we call urban spaces. Throughout the historical course of Western society, women have largely had their positions related to domestic chores, which were considered undervalued when compared to the activities performed by men. While the female body remained associated with physical and moral domesticity, the masculinist empire took over the streets and most of the relationships considered productive and vital. Much has changed in the public social sphere, but the city still reproduces in its structure much of that past, when social and political achievements by women had not been conquered. Despite occupying spaces that were unthinkable until decades ago, the distinction and inferiority of women in relation to men still leave their mark on social relationships and in spaces. It is not uncommon to witness scenes that reveal the vulnerability of the female body, its insecurities, leading to harassment, violence, fear, and hostility that still mark the collective imagination. It is from this perspective that the center of Goiânia will be studied here: from a gender perspective, more specifically regarding the condition of the female body exposed to the realities of this part of the city. Therefore, the research aims to understand how women perceive and experience the city. It is based on the theoretical support of feminist literature and methodologies for analyzing the daily practices and experiences of users who are part of the city and who use urban spaces on a daily basis. In this way, this work seeks to assimilate the socialurban consequences of the abjection of certain bodies in the city center, as well as the reasons why this process occurred.
