For this we performed a partial diallel cross involving three sterile-male strains (A) and ten restoring strains (R) of sweet sorghum of the Embrapa Milho e Sorgo (CNPMS) breeding program. The hybrids and strains were evaluated in three distinct locations in Minas Gerais, Brazil, in the 2012/2013 harvest. The experiments were installed in an alpha lattice design, with three replicates. We evaluated the following traits: flowering (FLOW), plant height (PH), green mass production (GMP), classified as agronomic, and the technologic were extraction (EXT), total soluble solids (TSS), ton of brix per hectare (TBH), sucrose in % of thatch (POLc), total reducing sugars (TRSc), total recoverable sugars (TRS) and alcohol production in liters per hectare (ALPHA).We performed the individual and joint variance analyses according to the model proposed by Miranda Filho and Geraldi (1984). The strains A and R presented genetic divergence for most of the traits. We verified that there was heterosis (h) expression for most of the evaluated traits, being more expressive for the agronomic traits, highlighting the PH (h = 31.6%), GMP (h = 28.11%) and TBH (h = 18.55%) traits. The strains A and R diverged in the contribution to the heterotic effect for some of the agronomic and technological traits, highlighting the BR008A, BR501R and CMSXS644R strains.Este trabalho foi realizado com o objetivo de avaliar o desempenho de linhagens e híbridos de sorgo sacarino e, especificamente, verificar e analisar o efeito heterótico relativo aos principais caracteres agronômicos e tecnológicos. Para isso foi realizado um cruzamento dialélico parcial envolvendo três linhagens macho-estéreis (A) e dez linhagens restauradoras (R) de sorgo sacarino do Programa de Melhoramento da Embrapa Milho e Sorgo (CNPMS). Os híbridos e linhagens foram avaliados em três localidades distintas do estado de Minas Gerais na safra 2012/2013. Os experimentos foram instalados em delineamento alfa-látice, com três repetições. Os seguintes caracteres foram avaliados: florescimento (FLOR), altura de plantas (AP), produção de massa verde (PMV), classificados como agronômicos, e os tecnológicos, extração (EXT), sólidos solúveis totais (SST), tonelada de brix por hectare (TBH), sacarose em % de colmo (POLc), açúcares redutores totais (ARTc), açucares totais recuperáveis (ATR) e produção de álcool em litros por hectare (ALPHA). Foram realizadas as análises de variância individuais e conjunta de acordo com o modelo proposto por Miranda Filho e Geraldi (1984). As linhagens A e R apresentaram divergência genética para a maioria dos caracteres. Constatou-se que houve expressão da heterose (h) para a maioria dos caracteres avaliados, sendo mais expressiva para os caracteres agronômicos, com destaque para os caracteres AP (h = 31,6%), PMV (h = 28,11%) e TBH (h = 18,55%).
