Resumo: The search for alternative energy sources has been stimulated, due to the concern to reduce the high levels of pollution and dependence on fossil fuels. For this reason, the use of biofuel is being increasingly exploited as is the case of biodiesel sources which are renewable. It can be produced from vegetable oil, residual and animal fat, among others. However, a concern related to the biodiesel industry are the waste from production. This study aims to verify the processes of industrial production of biodiesel, identify and characterize the waste resulting from extraction steps / refining of soybean oil and the transesterification process, and measure the most significant waste for the industry, with the aim of proposing waste management plan PGR. The methodology adopted in this study was exploratory type, which is characterized by the search for more information about a subject and Descriptive type where the data obtained in the survey should be analyzed and interpreted, either qualitatively or quantitatively. This study contributed information necessary for the biodiesel sector, through the identification of waste production, as well as adoption of proactive measures, through the management of waste based on the principles of Cleaner Production.

Por esse motivo, a utilização de biocombustíveis está sendo explorada cada vez mais, como é o caso do biodiesel cujas fontes são renováveis. Pode ser produzido a partir de óleos vegetais e residuais, gordura animal, entre outros. Entretanto, uma preocupação relacionada à indústria de biodiesel são os resíduos oriundos da produção. Este estudo propôs verificar os processos de produção industrial de biodiesel, identificar e caracterizar os resíduos resultantes das etapas de extração/refino do óleo de soja e do processo de transesterificação, bem como mensurar os resíduos mais significativos para a indústria, com a finalidade de propor um Plano de Gerenciamento de Resíduos - PGR. A metodologia adotada neste estudo foi do tipo Exploratória, a qual é caracterizada pela busca de maiores informações sobre determinado assunto e do tipo Descritiva onde os dados obtidos na pesquisa devem ser analisados e interpretados, seja de forma qualitativa ou quantitativa. Este estudo contribuiu com informações necessárias para o setor de biodiesel, por meio da identificação de resíduos da produção, bem como, adoção de medidas pró-ativa, através do gerenciamento de resíduos com base nos princípios da Produção mais Limpa.Made available in DSpace on 2016-08-18T17:23:41Z (GMT).
