Resumo: Initially, this work presents considerations about application of electrolytic capacitors in the industry, especially in the inverters D.C. bus, and how important is to identify in advance failures related to deterioration and wearout of these devices. After that, it is presented some maintenance’s concepts and the whole process of building an aluminum electrolytic capacitor, discussing its main features, applications and their failure modes. Some previous studies regards predicting lifetime are also analyzed in order to create the theory that form the basis for the proposed failure’s prediction in these components. Finally, after some simulations and experiments, is then proposed a procedure to apply on frequency inverters, which will enable predictive maintenance based on evolution of lifetime of aluminum electrolytic capacitors.
