The present dissertation is constituted by a study on the Gospel of Luke from the Greek manuscript (an asset from the Biblioteca Nacional do Rio de Janeiro) catalogued under number 2437. The first part is focused on the textual tradition to which the document belongs.Generically speaking, it is about the history of the Greek version of the New Testament and its textual transmission, as well as the collections of testimonies, considering fourteen centuries of manuscripts. A brief historical overview on textual typology and the criteria todefine local texts is offered, followed by a description of the most important moments of its printed tradition. The focus of the second part is on material aspects. The research object constituted by the codex itself is studied, and a primary classification for manuscript 2437 isdone, regarding its codicological and paleographic aspects, in the realm of Greek New Testament manuscripts. Through a description of the code and a study on the style of the main scribe, it is possible to infer its approximate date of the twelfth or thirteenth centuries, unlikewhat has been dated, due to its characteristics. Finally, the paleographic edition of the Gospel of Luke is presented, followed by a glossary for the document.
