The study presents an overview of the themes of Organization and Representation of Information and Knowledge (ORIC), in postgraduate courses in Information Science (IS) at public universities in southeastern Brazil over a six-year period: 2017 to 2022. The problem is pointed out regarding terminological ambiguities, resulting in conceptual noise in the information. In this sense, the research question is: what are the studies in the ORIC subarea of dissertations and theses of postgraduate programs in Information Science in the academic modality in southeastern Brazil, in the period 2017 to 2022? Thus, this research is justified, as is the relevance and reasons for choosing this topic, as it is a gap to be filled, since studies of conceptual distinction of the scientific production of ORIK have not yet been addressed within the scope of Brazilian IS. From this perspective, when investigating the object of study of this dissertation, it allows the discussion of its concepts that present terminological differences: Knowledge Organization (KO), Information Organization (IO), Knowledge Representation (KR) and Information Representation (IR), contributing to updating new studies as a way of operating ORIK. With the general objective of mapping the scientific production of postgraduate programs in IS located in southeastern Brazil, at the academic level, on the Organization and Representation of Information and Knowledge (ORIK) themes, from 2017 to 2022, outlining an overview of these productions. The specific objectives: 1. Verify the subarea of Organization and Representation of Information and Knowledge on dissertations and theses in the period from 2017 to 2022, coming from postgraduate programs in Information Science in southeastern Brazil, at the academic level, the form BDTD databases; 2. Analyze the ORIK subarea of dissertations and theses from postgraduate courses in IC, in the academic modality of the southeast, through the content analysis of Bardin (2011); 3. Identify the bibliometric indicators that make it possible to quantify the ORIK scientific activities that are being developed, in postgraduate programs in IS, in this spatial and temporal frame. The methodology is exploratory, descriptive with principles of a quantitative analytical nature, with the help of Endnote Web and Vosviewer software, in order to map the bibliometric indicators of these themes. And subsequently, qualitative analysis with Bardin's content analysis technique, with the purpose of categorizing, treating and interpreting the key concepts of ORIK. The results with a density of academic productions were demonstrated in the themes of Knowledge Representation (KR): Knowledge Organization Systems (KOS), thesauri, ontologies, taxonomies, folksonomies, as well as studies focused on Information Representation (IR): representation thematic (indexing, controlled vocabulary, documentary language) and descriptive (cataloging, authority control and RDA), presenting a relationship with the research lines of its programs. Ultimately, the study represented a scientific contribution to the strengthening and expansion of results in the context of Information Science, developed in the ORIK subareas.
