The imposition of laws that aim to vertically preserve biodiversity doesn't take to account the possibility of harmonious coexistence between human beings and nature. Currently, this dichotomy works as a basis to the creation and maintenance of permanent protection conservation parks. The permanent protection conservation parks do not allow human presence except for the purposes of research and tourism, tend to promote a conflictive relationship between the inhabitants of these locations and the agencies and institutions that aim to protect these spaces. Our analysis focuses on the creation of Parque Nacional das Sempre-vivas (PNSV) and the conflict generated with the traditional peoples that had their ways of life altered by the new laws that regulate the use of the environment. Our main focus is on the quilombola and sempre-vivas flower gatherer community of Braúnas and we aim to trace the course of this social group, as well as other affected communities, as they use the recognition of their identity as a way to their guarantee their rights, mainly as a strategy that aims to relaim their traditionally occupied territory.
