The trans experiences exposes political disputes, negotiations between power/knowledge and an intertwining of speeches and body agencies. This research aimed at reflecting on the binary gender matrix in dialogue with seven movies: Hedwig and The Agry Inch (2001), Madame Satã (2002), Tiresia (2003), Transamerica (2005), Strella (2009), Kátia (2012) and Laurence Anyways (2012). In these films, the protagonists, all trans-characters, are brought to the screen in narratives that build up the transit between genders in gestures, clothing, scenarios and lightning. In various similarity agreements, gender figures emerge as remnants of identifiable shapes and models, reaffirming or subverting stereotypes. Thus, we intended to comprehend the way in which such movies perform gender from the figures they emerge. To do so, we list the works of Erich Auerbach (1997), Judith Butler (2013), Marcel Mauss (2003), Jacques Rancière (2012), Victor Turner (2008), among others, as theoretical foundation of our research.
