For this purpose, we developed a discrete event simulation (DES) model integrated with mixed integer linear programming (MILP) to incorporate the main equipment cycle and downtime. The MILP model creates work-shift plans for the DES model. It considers ten objectives and solves them hierarchically based on the mining status at each simulation instant. Three case studies involving an iron ore mine with two processing plants are analyzed to test this tool. In the first case, we analyze the impact of the number of loading machines and the tolerance to the iron grade target on the particle size and stripping ratio targets for a work shift. In the second study, four scenarios of an annual mining plan are simulated. Feeding the biggest processing plant is prioritized in case of a shortage of released ore in the mine. Moreover, the prioritization of the grade target and the particle size target are alternate, and the iron grade target varies. Finally, the third study focuses on understanding the impact of the size of the homogenized pile on the feed rate in the processing plants and on the variability of ore grades between these piles. The results of the first study showed that when the appropriate number of loading machines is chosen for a work shift, there is a reduction in the deviation from the targets for grade, particle size, and stripping ratio. On the other hand, the second study showed a greater gain in ore mass for the biggest plant when it is prioritized and when the particle size target is optimized hierarchically before the grade target. Finally, the third case study showed a gain in the mass fed to the processing plant when considering a smaller pile size scenario.Esta tese aborda uma ferramenta integrada de simulação e otimização para prever a execução do planejamento anual de mineração. Para isso, desenvolvemos um modelo de simulação de eventos discretos (DES) integrado à programação linear inteira mista (MILP) para incorporar o ciclo do equipamento principal e o tempo de inatividade. O modelo MILP cria planos de turnos de trabalho para o modelo DES. Ele considera dez objetivos e os resolve hierarquicamente com base no status da mineração em cada instante da simulação. Três estudos de caso envolvendo uma mina de minério de ferro com duas plantas de processamento são analisados para testar essa ferramenta. No primeiro caso, analisamos o impacto do número de máquinas de carregamento e a tolerância à meta de teor de ferro sobre as metas de tamanho de partícula e taxa de remoção para um turno de trabalho. No segundo estudo, são simulados quatro cenários de um plano anual de mineração. A alimentação da maior planta de processamento é priorizada no caso de escassez de minério liberado na mina. Além disso, a priorização da meta de teor e a meta de tamanho de partícula são alternadas, e a meta de teor de ferro varia. Por fim, o terceiro estudo se concentra em entender o impacto do tamanho da pilha homogeneizada sobre a taxa de alimentação nas plantas de processamento e sobre a variabilidade dos teores de minério entre essas pilhas. Os resultados do primeiro estudo mostraram que, quando o número adequado de máquinas de carregamento é escolhido para um turno de trabalho, há uma redução no desvio das metas de teor, tamanho de partícula e taxa de remoção. Por outro lado, o segundo estudo mostrou um ganho maior em massa de minério para a maior planta quando ela é priorizada e quando a meta de tamanho de partícula é otimizada hierarquicamente antes da meta de teor.
