Resumo: It investigates the journalistic narratives described in the headlines of the newspapers Folha do Norte and O Liberalrelated to the politician Magalhães Barata during the period in which he was Senator of the Republic for the State of Pará, in the 1940s. The relations of confrontations between the journalistic headlines about the image Magalhães Barata's policy, in both newspapers, report on the importance of the history of the reception's communication regarding the image of public figures and their effects of representation in society. For this reason, the discussion about the construction of the negative political image of Magalhães Barata is made problematic through the headlines in the opposition newspaper, Folha do Norte, and the positive image of support, O Liberal, respectively. From the methodological point of view, the study outlined here arises from an interpretative and documentary research based on the bibliography and is a procedure based, above all, on the Critical Discourse Analysis (ADC) and the media images of Magalhães Barata, which were broadcast in both newspapers for readers in the capital of Pará. In this context, when we refer to the policy of Magalhães Barata, we refer to its importance and historical legacy from a cut in the news headlines through which the construction of statements, statements and images in the relevant newspapers will be analyzed.

As relações de confrontos entre as manchetes jornalísticas sobre a imagem política de Magalhães Barata em ambos os jornais reportam para a importância da história da comunicação da recepção referente à imagem de figuras públicas e seus efeitos de representação em sociedade. Por essa razão , problematiza se a discussão sobre a construção da imagem política negativa de Magalhães Barata por vi a das manchetes no jornal de oposição, a Folha do Norte , e da imagem positiva de apoio, O Liberal , respectivamente. Do ponto de vista metodológico, o estudo aqui delineado surge de uma pesquisa interpretativa e documental com base na bibliografia e é um procedimento pautado , antes de tudo, na Análise do Discurso Crítico (ADC) e das imagens midiatizadas de Magalhães Barata que eram veiculada s em ambos os jornais para os leitores da capital Paraense.
