Este vocábulo quimbundo esteve presente em apelidos e sobrenomes de indivíduos de diferentes posições sociais. Escravizados, aquilombados, pessoas livres, traficante de escravo, militares tiveram em comum o termo nomeando-os. Anos passaram e o vocábulo cazumbá continua a re(existir) em sobrenomes. Não apenas em Pernambuco, é um dos poucos termos africanos em sobrenomes no país. Atualmente em regiões metropolitanas do Recife e na Zona da Mata Norte pernambucana, os Cazumbás anseiam por contar suas trajetórias e memórias relacionadas ao nome e descobrir as origens deste termo. Aqui perscrutamos desde práticas nominativas coloniais em escravizados, os diferentes sentidos e significados do termo em África e diáspora aliando a trajetórias e memórias de indivíduos ligados pelo fio do nome. A pesquisa demonstra como identidades africanas continuam sendo reconstituídas na diáspora a despeito da cultura hegemônica que ora subalternizou o legado africano no Brasil.CNPqThe dissertation analyses the Cazumbá term circularity in names, in Pernambuco state since XIX century. This kimbundu vocable was present as nicknames and surnames in different social locus people. Slaves, studded, free people, militaries had in common the term naming them. Years were passed and the term cazumbá continues to resist in surnames. Not only in Pernambuco it is one of the few African surnamed terms in Brazil. Nowadays in Recife metropolitan areas and zona da mata of Pernambuco, the Cazumbás desire to tell their trajectories and memories associated to name and discover the term origins. Here we forebode since naming practices in slaves, the different term meanings and senses in Africa and diaspora combining with Pernambuco trajectories and memories linked by the name wire.
