Defesa : Curitiba, 31/01/2022Inclui referênciasResumo: As diatomáceas são um grupo de microrganismos fotossintetizantes, unicelulares, facilmente reconhecidos por sua parede celular composta por sílica. São amplamente distribuídas, frequentemente utilizadas como indicadores ambientais, e integrantes do grupo de produtores primários. No Brasil existem extensas lacunas geográficas de estudos taxonômicos, pois geralmente concentram-se na região sul e sudeste do país. A região semiárida caracteriza-se pela irregularidade de chuvas, ocasionando baixas trocas de água entre o rio e o solo adjacente, e resultando na existência de uma densa rede de rios temporários. Os ambientes aquáticos da região noroeste do Ceará são pouco estudados e, especificamente quando se trata do estudo das diatomáceas, estudos são escassos. Este trabalho propõe o estudo taxonômico de gêneros da ordem Naviculales (Bacillariophyceae) em águas continentais do Noroeste Cearense. A área de estudo concentra-se em quatro bacias da região, que são: Bacia do Parnaíba, Bacia do Coreaú, Bacia Litoral e a Bacia do Acaraú, onde foram coletadas amostras planctônicas e perifíticas, tendo sido analisado um total de 28 amostras, dessa foram identificados 47 táxons infragenéricos, sendo eles distribuídos em 10 famílias e 15 gêneros. Os gêneros com maior representatividade de espécies foi Navicula Bory seguido por Stauroneis Ehrenberg. As espécies identificadas nesse estudo são primeiras citações para o Ceará, destes Stauroneis sikkimensis é a primeira citação pra o Brasil. O presente estudo evidencia a subestimada diversidade de diatomáceas na região semiárida cearense e a necessidade de ampliação de estudos taxonômicos ecológicos em regiões pouco exploradas.Abstract: Diatoms are a group of photosynthetic, unicellular microorganisms that are easily recognized by their silica cell wall. They are widely distributed, often used as environmental indicators, and are part of the primary producer group. In Brazil, there are extensive geographic gaps in taxonomic studies, as they are generally concentrated in the south and southeast of the country. The semi-arid region is characterized by irregular rainfall, causing low water exchange between the river and the adjacent soil, resulting in the existence of a dense network of temporary rivers. The aquatic environments of the northwest region of Ceará are little studied and, specifically when it comes to the study of diatoms, studies are scarce. This work proposes the taxonomic study of genera of the order Naviculales (Bacillariophyceae) in continental waters of Northwest Ceará. The study area is concentrated in four basins of the region, which are: Parnaíba Basin, Coreaú Basin, Litoral Basin and Acaraú Basin, where planktonic and periphytic samples were collected, having analyzed a total of 28 samples, of this 47 infrageneric taxa were identified, distributed in 10 families and 15 genera. The genera with the highest representation of species was Navicula Bory followed by Stauroneis Ehrenberg. The species identified in this study are the first citations for Ceará, of these Stauroneis sikkimensis is the first citation for Brazil.
