Participatory and Protagonist Democracy (DPP), institutionalized by Chavismo during the beginning of the 21st century, inaugurated mechanisms for political participation in Venezuelan public management, especially at the local level. Since then, the country's political, economic, and social situation has undergone significant changes, this study seeks to analyze the current context of DPP and evaluate the challenges and potential of this democratic model in this new scenario. To this end, the present study bases its analysis on more general elements of the country and more local elements, specifically from the municipality of Pedro León Torres. To this end, centrality was given to the data extracted during the field research, relying on Grounded Theory and the Case Study. Then, from the data collection, six fundamental axes were considered to analyze the circunstances that block or encourage the deepening of DPP, namely: 1) Economic War; 2) Communal Economy; 3) Generational Issue; 4) Gender issue; 5) PSUV behavior; 6) Cultural aspects. Finally, the DPP is a living experience that deserves attention because it contributes to democratic experimentation and contradicts the discourse of the end of history and the single, universal model of democracy
