Resumo: The present work intends to approach and analyze the reflections on witchcraft and popular culture developed by the Italian historian Carlo Ginzburg in the firstfifteenyearsof his intellectual career (1961-1976). The research begins with an investigation on the possible influences and interlocutions between Ginzburg and other historians, particularly Delio Cantimori and Aby Warburg, essential influences for the conception of Ginzburg’s first books regarding to subjects and methods implicated in the process of historical writing. Posteriorly we focus our attention in the internal analysis of the books ​The Night Battlesand The cheese and the worms, considering the emergence of tensions, interlocutions as well as political and methodological concerns within such works.

A investigação parte das possíveis influências e interlocuções das obras de Ginzburg com a produção de outros historiadores, em particular Delio Cantimori e Aby Warburg, intelectuais essenciais para a concepção de seus primeiros livros no que se refere às temáticas e métodos implicados no processo da escrita histórica.
