Comportamento sedentário de idosos e o índice de desenvolvimento humano dos municípios da Superintendência Regional de Saúde – Uberaba/MG

Facing a behavior of the Brazilian population pyramid that signals the gradual increase of the elderly population seen in the latest population census, showing the aging population seeks the present study, direct our attention to its impact on public health, especially in the range of people over 60. It aims to identify the sedentary behavior of elderly in the municipalities of Uberaba Regional Health Superintendence and verify its relationship with the Human Development Index, on elderly people of both genders in the 24 municipalities of the Regional Health Superintendency of Uberaba - Minas Gerais. To research participants, we applied a structured questionnaire in an interview to obtain the following variables: socioeconomic characteristics, behavioral and clinical. Descriptive analysis was performed for all variables. The One Way ANOVA test was used to compare the means of continuous variables and the chi-square test to compare categorical variables. The level of statistical significance for all tests was p <0.05. We evaluated 3430 individuals. The average sedentary behavior in the region was 255.06 minutes. By analyzing the socioeconomic characteristics of the municipalities with low sedentary behavior and above 255.06 minutes there was a statistically significant difference from family income, years of education, marital status, color, retirement time, number of children, family financial cooperation, family life, perception of health status and presence of rheumatic diseases. We conclude that sedentary behavior not related to the human development index, but noted differences in the socioeconomic, behavioral and clinical characteristics.
