The high cost of health care organizations to maintain the medical care process with the necessary quality of services to clients is often incompatible with the economic scenario of these institutions. In the institutions that have relations with the public sector, this scenario is aggravated due to the lack of update of amounts paid to hospitals in relation to the inflationary process of the health sector, which ends up producing a growing imbalance in the financial results of these institutions. Therefore, it is important to utilize tools to help manage expenses, especially the modern management tools already used successfully in the private sector. In this context, Matrix Expense Management (GMD) is a tool that supports the planning and control of expenses, helps companies to remain competitive and enhances their control and economic management. The present work has the objective of analyzing the current management structure in a healthcare organization, proposing a model of implementation and pointing out the necessary changes in the management structure for the personalized application of the GMD. Applied, documental and participant research with qualitative, descriptive and exploratory characteristics allows us to visualize a way of using the tool in this healthcare organization, serving as a basis for new applications, as well as to identify the main benefits it provides and its limitations in the healthcare sector.
