This dissertation aims to analyze the results of research projects approved by the edicts of the thematic area of public security Fapesb in the period from 2004 to 2006, in view of its contribution not only to development of science and technology, and the public management the State of Bahia. To gauge de desire results, we applied method of quantitative and qualitative analysis using a questionnaire and the interviews in the collection of strategic information, seeking draw reliable conclusions about current conditions and future events. Important interpretations were obtained by analyzing the results with the application of the methodology. It appeared that the projects studied in almost all its entirety has a character widely innovative. It is also the work undertaken by researchers in terms numerically larger techniques, products and technologies for implementation within the framework of public security of the State of Bahia. However, there was also a lack of support from some sectors of structure of public security of the state, significantly impairing the applicability of approved projects. Anyway, the Editis Issue of Public Security have demonstrated their importance for the acquisition of new public policies in this area. It is essential, therefore, the maintenance of public institutions and their alignment with the structure of Public Security in the state so that the applicability of approved projects reflect on quality of life for the population baiana later. Thus, aiming to arouse discussion on the subject assessment in the State of Bahia and bring at the same, conceptual models that can serve as parameters for a subsequent evaluation of results more effective, is that this master´s thesis is proposed to measure the results of project approved in public by the theme of public safety Fabesp between 2004-2006, making a co-relationship of these results with the social dimensions, management and research and development.
