Resumo: This study evalueted the zinc (Zn) supplementation during 60 days on the humoral response against rabies in cattle. Forty eight calves aged about 12 months were randomly divided into 4 groups (12 calves / group). The groups received daily zinc supplementation at 0.0 (Gc); 140(G140); 294(G294) or 420(G420) mg/ animal. The forage the paddocks were Zn deficient (5.63 mg Zn/Kg/ dry matter). The titers of rabies antibodies were not affected by Zn supplementation in none of the treatments (Gc, G140, G294 and G420) and proportion of animals with protective titers of rabies antibodies (≥ 0.5 UI/mL ). In conclusion, Zn supplementation at the studied concentrations did not affect the titers of rabies antibodies and proportion of cattle with protective titers of rabies antibodies.

Quarenta e oito bezerros com aproximadamente 12 meses de idade foram divididos aleatoriamente em 4 grupos (12 bezerros/grupo). Os grupos receberam suplementação diária com zinco 0,0 (Gc); 140(G140); 294(G294) e 420(G420) mg/ animal. A concentração na forragem dos piquetes era deficiente (5,63 mg/kg de matéria seca). A suplementação com zinco não influenciou os títulos de anticorpos anti-rábicos em nenhum dos tratamentos (Gc, G140, G294, e G420) e também no número de animais que apresentaram títulos de anticorpos anti-rábicos protetores (≥ 0,5 UI/mL). Conclui-se que a suplementação com zinco nas concentrações estudadas não apresentaram diferenças significativas nos títulos de anticorpos anti-rábicos dos animais e na porcentagem deles com títulos de anticorpos protetores para a raiva, durante o período estudado.Made available in DSpace on 2016-07-18T17:53:18Z (GMT).
