Resumo: This thesis consists of: a literature review that investigates the crucial role of collagen in the complex wound healing process, whose vital role is the recovery of skin injuries and the maintenance of tissue integrity, and an experiment, described in a article, which covers the scientific evidence related to the role of collagen in wound healing, focusing on the different types of collagen, their specific functions and clinical implications. Collagen is a fundamental part of this process, a structural protein that plays a central role in the extracellular matrix (ECM) and the organization of connective tissue. We explore the main types of collagen and their specific role in different phases of the healing process, distribution in different tissues including skin, bones, tendons and cartilage, highlighting their interactions with other components of the ECM. We also include collagen analysis and evaluation techniques, which allow the distinction between type I and III collagen. Understanding the role of collagen in wound healing is essential for the advancement of therapeutic strategies, considering its importance in the formation and maturation of scars, cell migration, epidermal adhesion, re-epithelialization and tissue regeneration. This study reflects a comprehensive effort to gather and synthesize the existing literature related to the importance of collagen in wound healing. It is hoped that this work will contribute to continued advancement in the understanding and treatment of wounds and will open doors for future research and innovation in the area of regenerative medicine.

Submitted by Michele Mologni (mologni@unoeste.br) on 2024-08-16T17:49:12Z No. of bitstreams: 1 Lidelci Figueredo Bento.pdf: 1817331 bytes, checksum: 008cf0f380340a3239a6387e1b3c109d (MD5)Made available in DSpace on 2024-08-16T17:49:12Z (GMT).
