Rota crítica na web 3.0 : a visibilidade da violência doméstica e familiar nas redes sociais digitais

Digital social networks are a novel way of belonging to the world, transforming subjectivities and the concepts of social visibility in contemporaneity. Through its functionality, the division between public and private has become hybrid due to the users’ voluntary exposition of their private life. In this context, exposing stories of domestic and family violence has also reached the digital social networks. Therefore, this study aimed at analyzing the interaction of female victims with the digital social networks, as well as the themes present in their stories under the Critical Route of domestic and familiar violence perspective proposed by Montserrat Sagot (2000). Through the content analysis method, we evaluated 23 posts made by Brazilian women in 2018 in public mode in both Facebook and Instagram. With this investigation, we identified that the digital visibility has passed through the revelation of domestic and familiar violence. Some of the main factors identified as belonging to the critical route and that were present in most of the cases analyzed were the physical violence suffered, including pictures of the wounds, as well as the lack of qualified responses in both family and State instances, which are the first networks of support to the women who wish to end the violent situation lived with their (ex) companion. Furthermore, exposing the violence suffered in the social networks has also become a way of incentive or an example of courage for other women experiencing similar situations. Finally, we conclude that the digital social networks now represent another instance of the Critical Route, in which women currently look for support and/or carry out complaints of violence.
