Trata-se de uma pesquisa qualitativa sobre a percepção da espiritualidade e os cuidados dos enfermeiros (as) no pré-operatório dos pacientes. Aborda as dificuldades encontradas pelos enfermeiros na organização e na efetivação de sua prática no interior do Hospital, especificamente no centro cirúrgico que é uma Unidade Hospitalar complexa e de acesso restrito. Abordaram também, aspectos que influenciam a conduta dos profissionais, a sua formação, e outros atores inseridos na dimensão da espiritualidade, os quais envolvam a compreensão do ser humano como um ser integral. As análises dos questionários aplicados revelam a importância da espiritualidade para a obtenção da saúde integral do paciente, corroborando com o conceito de saúde proposto pela Organização Mundial de Saúde (OMS), que preconiza o completo bem-estar bio-psico-social-ambiental-espiritual do ser humano. Constatou-se, também, que a formação do profissional de enfermagem não possuem conhecimentos em questão da importância da dimensão, já que a sua formação acadêmica tem as dimensões relacionadas à espiritualidade, e cunho mais científico e menos humanista. Porém, observou-se que os entrevistados relatam a importância da espiritualidade na conduta de tratamento frente ao paciente no processo cirúrgico e que as questões espirituais são relevantes do ponto de vista do cuidado. Conclui-se que as crenças pessoais, adotadas pelos enfermeiros o real impacto da espiritualidade sobre a saúde, e pode perceber grande interesse por parte dos profissionais na área da saúde, considerando ser de grande importância a preparação dos mesmos, para que eles possam compreender o significado da espiritualidade para o indivíduo e lidar no centro cirúrgico.This research is directed toward comprehending the influence of spirituality in the nursing care in the pre-operative sector of the Municipal Hospital of Santarém (HMS), in the city of Santarém, PA. It is a qualitative research about the perception of the spirituality and the caregiving of the nurses in the pre-operative phase of the patients. It deals with the difficulties encountered by the nurses in the organization and implementation of its practice inside the Hospital, specifically in the surgical center which is a complex Hospital Unit with restricted access. It also deals with aspects which influence the conduct of the professionals, their formation and other actors inserted in the dimension of spirituality, which involved understanding the human being as a whole being. The analyses of the applied questionnaires reveal the importance of spirituality to obtain wholistic health of the patient, corroborating with the concept of health proposed by the World Health Organization (WHO), which advocates the complete bio-psycho-social-environmental-spiritual well-being of the human being. It was observed that the professional nursing program does not provide knowledge related to the issue of the importance of this dimension, since its academic formation has dimensions related to spirituality but of a more scientific characteristic and less humanist. However, we observed that the people interviewed relate the importance of spirituality in the conduct of the treatment confronted with the patient in a surgical process and that the spiritual issues are relevant from the point of view of caregiving.
