The CAPES, Foundation of the Ministry of Education (MEC), plays a key role in the expansion and consolidation of post-graduate studies (masters and doctorate) in all states of the Federation. The direct implication of this fact is contribution to the shaping of highly qualified personnel and advances in science and technology in our country. To achieve these goals CAPES uses a set of indicators and criteria that permit to evaluate the quality of programs of post-graduation, which makes the system to be used as a parameter for strategic management of programs. The results of the evaluation system have been adopted by the coordination of programs, to define strategies for action and continuous improvement. In this sense, the strategic management of IT (Information Technology) can play an important role in supporting the strategy and program management of post-graduate studies. In this context, this research aims to develop an application for the monitoring of the requirements of system assessment CAPES with contributions from project management of information technology. The method used to conduct the study was action research, based on the papers of Thiollent (1997, 2008) and is divided into four phases: Exploration; Thorough Research, Action and Estimation. As parameters for the elaboration of the application, we used data from the document area of CAPES programs in the area of Administration, Accounting and Tourism. We used the model life cycle and software development proposed by Forsberg (2005). As a result of the research, it was possible to check the alignment of the steps of action research in accordance with the project management of Information application development proposed, and the logic of the system proposed by CAPES is capable of systematization and monitoring aiming to align the strategic management of postgraduate programs. The tracking application of the requirements for evaluating graduate programs was satisfactory as its application thus achieving the main objective of the work.
