Resumo: This dissertation has as object of study the use of the collection of two university libraries ??? the one from the Instituto de Filosofia e Ci??ncias Humanas (IFCH) of Universidade Estadual de Campinas (UNICAMP) and the one from the Faculdade de Filosofia, Ci??ncias e Letras (FFLCH) of Universidade de S??o Paulo (USP). The main objective of the research was to verify the use of the collection starting from the perception that the professionals of the referred libraries have of their users, considering differences and affinities between the print medium and the digital medium as supports for scientific research. The research, with a qualitative approach, uses bibliographical, documentary and field sources based on the theory of ???complex thought??? by Edgar Morin. In order to achieve what was proposed, theoretical references were raised about the subject, as well as a semi-structured interview with eleven employees from both libraries. Considering the theoretical basis, the analysis and the interpretation of the collected data, it was possible to understand more widely the use of information in its different supports by a hyperconnected society. The results indicated that undergraduate students use print reading formats more than graduate students. In relation to professors, the preference for print media is directly linked to the age group ??? younger teachers have greater adherence to digital formats. Despite this data, digital readings are well regarded as complementary resources. This research, therefore, has the potential to broaden reflections regarding studies about the functionality and the role of the university library, as well as to provide a better understanding about the act of reading in its various supports.

El objetivo de la investigaci??n fue averiguar el uso de la colecci??n a partir de la percepci??n que los profesionales de las dichas bibliotecas tienen de sus usuarios, considerando diferencias y afinidades entre el medio impreso y el medio digital como soporte para la investigaci??n cient??fica. La investigaci??n, de enfoque cualitativo, recurre a fuentes bibliogr??ficas, documentales y de campo a partir de la teor??a del ???pensamiento complejo??? de Edgar Morin. Para lograr lo que se propuso, se levantaron los referenciales te??ricos sobre el tema, bien como se realiz?? una entrevista semi estructurada con once funcionarios de las dos bibliotecas. A partir de la fundamentaci??n te??rica, del an??lisis y de la interpretaci??n de los datos recolectados, fue posible comprender de forma m??s amplia el uso de la informaci??n en sus diferentes soportes por una sociedad hiper conectada. Los resultados se??alaron que los alumnos de graduaci??n utilizan m??s las formas impresas de lectura de lo que los de posgrado. Cuanto a los docentes, la preferencia por los soportes impresos est?? directamente asociada a la franja etaria ??? profesores m??s j??venes tienen una mayor adhesi??n a las formas digitales. A pesar de esos datos, los soportes digitales de lecturas son bien vistos como recursos complementares. Esta investigaci??n, por lo tanto, presenta potencial para ampliar las reflexiones en lo que se refiere a los estudios acerca de la funcionalidad y del papel de la biblioteca universitaria en el proceso de formaci??n del alumno, as?? como puede proporcionar una mejor comprensi??n sobre el acto de la lectura en sus variados soportes.Esta disserta????o tem como objeto de estudo o uso do acervo de duas bibliotecas universit??rias ??? a do Instituto de Filosofia e Ci??ncias Humanas (IFCH) da Universidade Estadual de Campinas (UNICAMP) e a da Faculdade de Filosofia, Ci??ncias e Letras (FFLCH) da Universidade de S??o Paulo (USP). Os resultados indicaram que os alunos de gradua????o utilizam mais os formatos impressos de leitura do que os de p??s-gradua????o. Em rela????o aos docentes, a prefer??ncia pelos suportes impressos est?? diretamente ligada ?? faixa et??ria ??? professores mais jovens t??m maior ades??o aos formatos digitais. Apesar desses dados, os suportes digitais de leituras s??o bem vistos como recursos complementares.
