The dissertation aims to construct a mapping of the associativism and trade unionism of education workers in the North and Midwest regions of Brazil. It employs a periodization that begins with the first unions that emerged in the 1930s, through the associations established in the 1950s, which later became trade unions in the late 1980s, up until the year 2017, marked by a labor reform. The overall objective is to analyze the historical trajectory and profile of regional, state, and national entities, creating a body of information that enables future studies. Primary data was obtained through interviews, while secondary data was obtained from official documents of the organizations, portals, articles, and books. The research also focused on analyzing the tension between unifying and fragmenting tendencies within the educational trade union movement, including public, confessional, and private sectors of the basic education network, university professors, and administrative staff in the education system. The current political map of education workers' unions presents uncertainties, unification, and fragmentation.
