Resumo: Drought affects different areas around the world. Sao Paulo Metropolitan Area suffered, between 2014 and 2016, with the worst water crisis of the last eighty ears. Beside the climate conditions, this crisis can also be related to the consumption habits of the population, that, until that moment, did not give the real importance to this problem. In this situation, the research intends to identify forms to reduce the water consumption in buildings, by solutions adopted in regions with urban concentration. For that, were selected urban centers that passed, or are passing through water crisis compared to the one in the city of Sao Paulo, to analyse the actions developed and the applicability on the metropolitan area of Sao Paulo city. The study cases are in the following countries: Australia, Spain, United States of America and Mexico. Australia passed through a long and difficult period of water supply. Solutions in cities such as Sydney and Adelaide were observed. In Spain, the focus of the study was the city of Barcelona, also with the metropolitan area. The capital of Catalonia passed through a small period, if compared to the other regions, of severe water crisis. New York and California are the regions analysed in the United States. In Mexico, the capital Mexico City was selected because of the chronic situation of water supply. To highlight the importance of actions to reduce the water consumption in buildings, interviews also were conducted, based in theoretical reference, with the managers of AQUA-HQE and LEED certifications. Beside the interviews, this research presents a multiple case study of two certified buildings located in the city of Sao Paulo. With this study, is expected to observe the reduction in water consumption from the solutions adopted in constructions and to verify the importance of environmental performance certification systems. The results showed that certifications can help reduce water consumption and establish a relation between architecture and sustainability.

A Regi??o Metropolitana da Cidade de S??o Paulo (RMSP) sofreu, entre os anos de 2014 e 2016, a maior crise h??drica dos ??ltimos oitenta anos. Al??m do aspecto clim??tico, a crise enfrentada tamb??m pode ser relacionada aos h??bitos de consumo da popula????o, a qual, at?? ent??o, n??o conferia a real import??ncia a esta problem??tica. Dentro deste contexto, este estudo identifica meios de reduzir o consumo de ??gua nas edifica????es, por meio de solu????es adotadas em localidades caracterizadas por concentra????es populacionais e urbanas. Para tal, foram selecionados centros urbanos que passaram, ou passam, por crises semelhantes a enfrentada pela cidade de S??o Paulo no intuito de se relatar as a????es desenvolvidas, voltadas para edifica????es, e comentar a aplicabilidade destas na RMSP. Os casos apresentados s??o dos seguintes pa??ses: Austr??lia, Espanha, Estados Unidos e M??xico. A Austr??lia passou por dificuldades em rela????o ao abastecimento de ??gua. Foram observadas solu????es em cidades como Sydney e Adelaide. Na Espanha, o foco do estudo foi a cidade de Barcelona, abrangendo tamb??m sua regi??o metropolitana. A capital da Catalunha atravessou um per??odo que, apesar de curto se comparado ??s demais regi??es, foi de grave escassez. Nova York e Calif??rnia s??o as regi??es relatadas nos Estados Unidos. No M??xico, a capital Cidade do M??xico foi selecionada devido ?? situa????o cr??nica relacionada ao abastecimento de ??gua. No intuito de ressaltar a import??ncia da tomada de a????es de redu????o de consumo de ??gua nas edifica????es, tamb??m foram conduzidas entrevistas semiestruturadas, baseadas em referencial te??rico, com gestores dos sistemas de certifica????o AQUA-HQE e LEED. Al??m das entrevistas, este trabalho apresenta um estudo de caso m??ltiplo de dois empreendimentos certificados localizados na cidade de S??o Paulo. Com esta pesquisa, espera-se observar a redu????o no consumo de ??gua a partir de solu????es adotadas em edifica????es e verificar a import??ncia de sistemas de certifica????o de desempenho ambiental neste processo.
