Resumo: The construction industry has historically played an important role in the development of Brazil. This sector is also a major force for development generating more direct and indirect jobs, contributing to the improvement of the infrastructure and reducing the housing deficit. However, this positive contribution has another side, because the construction industry is responsible for a large consumption of materials and generates a lot of waste, which if not properly disposed of, can make a big impact on the environment. Within this context, new forms of management of waste generated on site have attracted much interest and has been the subject of several studies. This research has as main objective to propose an alternative use for the construction and demolition waste (CDW) mixed with polyethylene terephthalate (PET) flakes in the development of a new material in the form of a mortar made with both materials. To obtain the parameters of this research the following steps were taken: Search in the banks of patents; Identification of CDW recycling plants; collection, of samples of CDW, PET and cement and characterization of samples; study of dosages; molding and packaging of the samples of the new product, and testing the axial compression and permeability qualities of the new material. The values of the compressive strength for the essay with the CDW+ PET mix were significantly reduced due to the increase of PET in the dosages studied. It was observed that the replacement of natural aggregate by PET interfered in the permeability of the material. The contributions to the practice of this study are not using virgin raw material for the production of mortar (sand, gravel, etc.) decrease the amount of carbon generated during the life cycle of the material, thereby reducing the environmental footprint caused by its production. It is emphasized that the possibility of reusing these materials reduces the need to explore mineral resources of raw materials, in addition to causing significant with the reduction of transport import virgin material and final waste disposal gains. Therefore, it is necessary to develop sustainable materials at the construction site to reduce costs, energy consumption and nature reserves are currently mandatory criteria for technological solutions for new products to be used in the engineering field.

Therefore, it is necessary to develop sustainable materials at the construction site to reduce costs, energy consumption and nature reserves are currently mandatory criteria for technological solutions for new products to be used in the engineering field.
