This dissertation develops a comparative study, opposing the theories applied in the children alphabetization, detaching among them, what could be called Traditional Method and Paulo Freire Method. Because of the absence of accessible experience and reasonable length of time in the children alphabetization with the Paulo Freire Method, we tried to analyze experiences with methods more convergent with freirian proposals the socioconstructivism, for example and then, to search empirical field for the data collection. It was chosen the initial phase of alphabetization, more precisely the 2nd grade of basic education, as a subject to be investigated once that in this stage the kids are initiated in the learning of reading and writing by the school. The relevance of this study is in trying to search the practical, principles and purpose of the Paulo Freire Method, for the children alphabetization, in order to legitimize its efficiency and validity, therefore, according to the author, it is a learning method and, not a teaching method. Beyond the representation of the teachers who adopt different methods on the children alphabetization, we also analyzed the children written production with the aim to analyze the methodological impacts in the children alphabetization, especially in their writing ability.
