Resumo: | The investigation of the presence of popular participation in the socio-assistance services offered by the Reference Centers for Social Welfare (CRAS) and the contribution of the social worker practice to this process constitute the focus of the present research. Based on the professional experience of the researcher at Poços de Caldas CRAS and her close relation to the thematic in question, this study aimed to apprehend the place that the National Social Assistance Policy (PNAS) occupies and the contribution of Social Services professionals to strengthen and stimulate popular participation in the construction of the social assistance policy through socio-educative services. Therefore, in addition to the literary survey on the aimed object, the research was established on qualitative methodology by conducting semi-structured interviews with social workers and users who are placed on the Reference Centers for Social Welfare at the municipality of Poços de Caldas. As a part of the research results, it was figured: 1 - the importance of the municipal management for the social assistance policy when it comes to the guarantee of the right to popular participation; 2 - the necessity of subsides offered by the Unified System of Social Assistance (SUAS) that are capable of implementing the popular participation as an socio-educative service; 3 - the effort of the social workers placed at Poços de Caldas to consolidate the protagonism of its users; 4 - the identification of impediments to the realization of a collective direction to the social equipment of basic social protection in the socio-educative services at the analyzed municipality |

Fundamentado na experiência profissional da pesquisadora nos CRAS de Poços de Caldas e em sua estreita relação com a temática em questão, o objetivo desse estudo é a apreensão do lugar da participação na Política Nacional de Assistência Social (PNAS) e da contribuição da atuação dos profissionais de Serviço Social no fortalecimento e no estimulo da participação da população na construção da política de assistência social, por meio dos serviços socioeducativos. Para tanto, além de pesquisa bibliográfica realizada sobre o objeto proposto, esse trabalho apoiou-se em metodologia qualitativa através do desenvolvimento de entrevistas individuais semi-estruturadas com assistentes sociais e usuários inseridos nos Centros de Referência de Assistência Social do município de Poços de Caldas.
