Resumo: ABSTRACT During the last few decades, research development in genetics and biology in symbiosis with computer sciences technology has significantly redefined the relationship between human beings and techniques; humans are no longer mediators but action tools that act on themselves. This scenario has raised questions about our representation of the word, the nature of our bodies, diseases, and deficiencies, and about the conception of the being human. The use of life technologies, particularly of genetic engineering impacts the definition of our own selves and represents the last manifestation of human control over the word, disclosing what and how we like to be, and how we think nature should be. Techno-science has the power of not only satisfying our deepest desires by promising a disease-free and no-suffering word under our control, but also raise the most complicate questions about the history of science thought. This thesis aims at reestablishing the relationship between the natural sciences and the humanities by exposing the complexity of the relationship between human beings and technology, thereby pointing to determinants that have led people to live as if life were meant to be under domination. I also point out the etical and biological consequences of continuing to live according to this perspective.

I also point out the etical and biological consequences of continuing to live according to this perspective.Nas últimas décadas, os avanços das pesquisas nas áreas da genética e biologia, em simbiose com as tecnologias da informática, redefinem de forma marcante a relação entre homem e técnica, o qual deixa de ser um instrumento mediador para tornar-se um instrumento de ação sobre si mesmo. Esse cenário tem nos colocado algumas questões acerca da nossa representação sobre o mundo, a natureza do corpo, da doença, da deficiência e a própria concepção de humano. O uso das tecnologias da vida, em especial a engenharia genética, abala nossa própria autodefinição e representa a última expressão do controle humano sobre o mundo, demonstrando a forma e o modo como gostaríamos de ser e como imaginamos que deveria ser a natureza viva. A tecnociencia possui tanto o poder de satisfazer nossos mais profundos desejos, pois nos promete um mundo sem doenças, sofrimento e sob controle, como levanta as mais complicadas questões da história do pensamento científico.
