Sonho e comunicação: novos nexos teóricos - proposta para uma abordagem transdisciplinar dos fenômenos oníricos

I propound in this dissertation, as a fundamental hypothesis, that dreams are phenomena integrated in the dynamics of human communication, as an occurrence both of mental processing of communicational contents and of prospective simulation and ignition for communicative actions expressed in a state of wakefulness, in the social environment. In order to support this hypothesis, I approximate theoretical models of Communication and recent theories and concepts generated in the fields of Cognitive Sciences and Neurosciences, so as to articulate new transdisciplinary nexuses. Starting with a revision of theorizations on sleep and dreams formulated, since the discovery of the REM sleep and the first descriptions of the phases of dreams, in the mid 20th century, in the sphere of the biological sciences, I concentrate on theoretical aspects, such as those developed by Winson (1986), Stickgold (2007), Ribeiro and Nicolelis (2004; 2007), which identify specific and relevant cognitive functions, in oneiric phenomena and experiences. Next, making use of the Threat-Simulation Theory by Revonsuo (2000), of formulations on the evolution of verbal lingual sociability and of human communication as those of Pinker (2003), and of the conceptions about the function of metaphorical language of Freud (2001) and of Lakoff and Johnson (1999), I submit that dreams are simulations capable of reinforcing learning and engendering behavior and solutions for confronting social and communicational challenges. Lastly, by using the Corpomídia Theory of Katz and Greiner (2001; 2004; 2009) I support a conception of dreams as a cognitive process integrator of experience, prospective simulator and trigger of communicative actions in the informational dynamics of corpomídia and I uphold the promising potential of this approach, especially in the face of the challenges imposed by the socio-technological evolution of the means of communication, of the techno-corporal interfaces and of the new communicational relationships already articulated or that should emerge through utilization of these new medias and interfaces. Using as a basis for my arguments the bibliographic research and interviews, which I carried out as a reporter in the area of scientific journalism, I seek the approximation of different fields of knowledge, rejecting reductionist snares and aiming for the opening of new perspectives in the approach to crucial problems concerning virtual realities and bio-politics. I intend thus to contribute for the establishment of theoretical instruments capable of elucidating some of the more challenging contemporary questions, intrinsically composed of an intermingling of biological, cultural and communicational phenomena
