B. F. Skinner approached verbal behavior in two ways: he analyzed it as a special behavior which should be studied in itself and studied it as a behavior which offers intelligibility to human complex behavioral phenomena. This double approach of verbal behavior by Skinner allowed the conclusion that it causes a deep impact over human individual life. The objective of this research was to examine that verbal behavior operate on interaction between individual with its enviroment. This was accomplished by the conceptualization of the components of verbal repertoires and by the analysis of contingencies required for its construction, having as reference the work of Skinner from 1957 and works about the ontogenesis of verbal behavior. When adopting an ontoghenic perspective of verbal behavior, it was possible to identify the limitations that each acquisition of verbal repertoire exceeds, as well as the possibilities it opens, helping to identify the range of the impacts of the verbal and pre-verbal repertoire’s components. The analyzed pre-verbal repertoires amplify the individual environment, allowing him to be more affected by his social environment. At the same time, it prepares the individual to interact with non-organic environment. Listener behavior helps building, expanding and differentiating the individual environment, expanding and differentiating his repertoire and preparing him for future learning. The ecoic operant helps in construction of new verbal repertoire, as well as overcome temporal gaps between antecedent stimulus and responses. Mand increases action power of the speak and, at the same time, sharpens it. Also, it allows the substitution of undesirable behavior and facilitation of future learning. Tact extends listener power to be affected by events dispersed at time and space; stablish new control relations with external and internal environment; and, when articulated with listener behavior, it allows categorization, creation of supplementary stimulus to overcome ambiguous context, and at last, it is involved in the emergence of new behavior not directly taught.
