Resumo: This dissertation deals with the intensification of the work of the social workers in Instituto Federal de Educação, Ciência e Tecnologia (Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology) in São Paulo – IFSP, and has as goal to analyze its objective and subjective expressions. We consider intensification a particular phenomenon to contemporary capitalism and which has different diffusion modes according to the branch of economic activity taken into consideration. As for the subject of this study, we situate the social workers as journeymen/women inside the Rede Federal de educação profissional (Federal Network of professional education), with a type of work carried out in the Brazilian federal public service, in which the process of intensification is already consistently implemented. For such, we tried to identify the conditions in which the work is materialized and the forms of work organization by these professionals, expressed in the professional competences and attributions, the particularities and strategies built for the consolidation of professional work in consonance to the Ethical-Political Project of Social Work against institutional requests. Bibliographic, documental and empirical researches were carried out. In the first stage of the empiric research, a semi structured questionnaire was applied to all the social workers in IFSP, in order to obtain a general picture of how the work of social workers is structured in IFSP, and we obtained 24 answers. With the data from this questionnaire we were able to identify the general profile and the information about the work conditions of these professionals. In the second stage of the field research, in loco interviews were carried out with 6 social workers, in order to deepen the categories of work organization, conditions, and the work intensity in IFSP. These professionals were chosen based on two criteria: professionals that have worked in IFSP for at least four years and that work in campi with different levels of structure: better structured campi (those with a longer period of existence), relatively well structured campi and less structured campi of IFSP. The analysis of the results showed that the main indicator of work intensification of the social workers in this place is the work load that comes from the excess of tasks and attributions that come from the main institutional demand to these professionals: the policy of student assistance, a process that causes an increase on demand for more results and deadline meetings, which ends up requiring more work, more speed and a great cost of energy - above all, intellectual energy. Due to the experience of the double graduation with Université Grenoble Alpes - UGA, we also present the data obtained through the research with the social workers that work in the French college education system, especially those regarding the absence of adequate work conditions and the necessary human resources for carrying out the work

Para tanto, buscamos identificar as condições em que este trabalho se materializa e as formas de organização do trabalho desses/as profissionais, expressas nas competências e atribuições profissionais, as particularidades e estratégias construídas para a consolidação do trabalho profissional em consonância ao Projeto Ético-Político do Serviço Social versus requisições institucionais. Foram realizadas pesquisas bibliográfica, documental e empírica. Na primeira etapa da pesquisa empírica, aplicou-se um questionário semiestruturado com todos/as os/as assistentes sociais que trabalham no IFSP, com o objetivo principal de obter uma caracterização geral de como se estrutura o trabalho dos/as assistentes sociais no IFSP, e obtivemos 24 respondentes. Com os dados desse questionário, pudemos identificar o perfil geral e as informações sobre a condição funcional desses/as profissionais. Na segunda etapa da pesquisa de campo foram realizadas entrevistas “in loco” com 6 assistentes sociais, a fim de aprofundar as categorias organização do trabalho, condições de trabalho e intensidade do trabalho no IFSP. Essas profissionais foram escolhidas a partir da orientação de dois critérios: profissionais com pelo menos 4 anos de atuação no IFSP e que atuem em campus com diferentes níveis de estruturação: campus mais estruturados (aqueles com mais tempo de existência), campus relativamente estruturados e campus menos estruturados do IFSP. A análise dos resultados identificou que o principal indicador de intensificação do trabalho dos/as assistentes sociais nesse espaço é o aumento da carga de trabalho advinda do excesso de atividades e atribuições constituídas na principal requisição institucional: a Política de Assistência Estudantil. Processo que expressa um aumento de cobranças de resultados e cumprimento de prazos, e que acaba por exigir mais trabalho, mais ritmo e velocidade e um grau de dispêndio de energia elevado, especialmente intelectual.
