Resumo: In the context of contemporary culture and communicational processes that circulate in thenetworks, the issue of the fat body is debated from different perspectives. In the present doctoral thesis, the fat body is understood as a complex phenomenon, which includes physical, subjective and cultural dimensions. Thus, considering its multiple layers, we seek to contribute to the discussions about the fat body from the development of a social imaginary cartography. Our cartography is based on the study of reports of experiences and memories of women who have had the experience of the fat body in a society where the thin body is the ideal health and beauty. The thesis is in accordance with the epistemological proposal of the program’s Processes of Creation and Communication in Culture line of research. The adopted research method is the cartography of the imaginary that emerges from life stories. The theoretical basis is interdisciplinary in nature and includes: Jung, Campbell and Whitmont, for their studies on myths and female archetypes; Monteiro and Paiva, for the conceptualization of the feminine; Nechar, Aires and Jimenez, for their researches on fat body favorable social movements; Durand's theory of the imaginary; and Leão for the life story and social imaginary cartography. Analyzes were carried out based on the following criteria: memories of family culture; adolescence; Self-perception; body positivity and body neutrality; plus size movement. The research results indicate that there are patterns and dominant structures in the narratives of life stories and, at the same time, the singularities of each of the women studied. The research results point out to possible dominant patterns and structures in life story narratives and, at the same time, the singularities of each of the women studied

The research results point out to possible dominant patterns and structures in life story narratives and, at the same time, the singularities of each of the women studiedNo contexto da cultura contemporânea e dos processos comunicacionais que circulam nas redes, a questão do corpo gordo é debatida por diferentes perspectivas. Na presente tese de doutorado, o corpo gordo é entendido como um fenômeno complexo, que inclui dimensões físicas, subjetivas e culturais. Assim, considerando suas múltiplas camadas, buscamos contribuir para as discussões sobre o corpo gordo a partir do desenvolvimento de uma cartografia do imaginário social. Nossa cartografia tem como base o estudo dos relatos das experiências e memórias de mulheres que vivenciaram a experiência do corpo gordo em uma sociedade onde o corpo magro é modelo ideal de saúde e beleza. A tese está em consonância com a proposta epistemológica da linha de pesquisa Processos de Criação e Comunicação na Cultura. O método de pesquisa adotado é a cartografia dos imaginários que emergem a partir das histórias de vida. A fundamentação teórica tem natureza interdisciplinar e agrega: Jung, Campbell e Whitmont, para os estudos sobre mitos e arquétipos femininos; Monteiro e Paiva, para a conceituação do feminino; Nechar, Aires e Jimenez, nos levantamentos sobre os movimentos em prol do corpo gordo; e a teoria do imaginário segundo Durand; e Leão e o método de cartografias de imaginários e histórias de vida. As análises foram realizadas a partir dos seguintes critérios: memórias da cultura familiar; adolescência; auto-percepção; body positivity e body neutrality; movimento plus size. Como resultados obtidos, foi possível perceber padrões e estruturas dominantes nas narrativas de histórias de vida e, ao mesmo tempo, as singularidades de cada uma das mulheres estudadasConselho Nacional de Pesquisa e Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico - CNPqapplication/pdfhttp://tede2.pucsp.br/tede/retrieve/52301/Patricia%20Assuf%20Nechar.pdf.jpgporPontifícia Universidade Católica de São PauloPrograma de Estudos Pós-Graduados em Comunicação e SemióticaPUC-SPBrasilFaculdade de Filosofia, Comunicação, Letras e ArtesPlus SizeCartografiaImaginário socialPlus-size women's clothingCartographyFeminineSocial imaginaryCNPQ::CIENCIAS SOCIAIS APLICADAS::COMUNICACAOO corpo gordo: uma cartografia do imaginário socialThe fat body: a cartography of the social imaginaryinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersioninfo:eu-repo/semantics/doctoralThesisinfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessreponame:Biblioteca Digital de Teses e Dissertações da PUC_SPinstname:Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo (PUC-SP)instacron:PUC_SPTEXTPatricia Assuf Nechar.pdf.txtPatricia Assuf Nechar.pdf.txtExtracted texttext/plain467580https://repositorio.pucsp.br/xmlui/bitstream/handle/23221/4/Patricia%20Assuf%20Nechar.pdf.txtcd3806599603e0073c34e56a4fb5f667MD54LICENSElicense.txtlicense.txttext/plain;
