Resumo: | This research has the object of investigation the use of open-source programming by artists and designers in their creative processes. The research begins with the discussion about new ways of thinking about software, a proposal presented by artists and theorists of the new media and organized by Matthew Fuller (2003); accompanies the reflection of the phenomenon called by Lev Manovich (2013) as "software culture"; and delves into the particularities of the creative and collaborative universe of open-source communities. In this context, we will highlight two types of software, Blender and Processing. Blender is an open source computer program developed by the Blender Foundation in a collaborative way for modeling, animation, texturing, composing, rendering, video editing and creating interactive 3D applications such as games and presentations. Processing is an application that allows you to write, edit, compile and run the Java language, a type of interface that allows the approach of artists of the programming code to perform their works. Project started in 2001 in MIT labs by Ben Fry and Casey Reas and a group of volunteers, Processing is an open source programming language and an integrated development environment (IDE), aimed at creating in the fields of art and visual design. This platform has been used by artists from around the world and aggregates a large number of discussions in forums and other social networks. One of the most current highlights of processing is its ability to connect to free hardware tools, such as Arduino and Kinect, which work with data derived from body movements, where space is mapped and transformed into information that can be used in the generation of 3D images. This study proposes to carry out a cartography of the main types of poetic works developed in the artistic process from calculations generated in computers. The research corpus is limited to works that exclusively use open source programs in their creation, meeting the requirements of The Open Source Initiative. The research seeks to understand what characterizes the poetic production developed from the use of these programs in open source, and other tools of codification in computational language |

The research seeks to understand what characterizes the poetic production developed from the use of these programs in open source, and other tools of codification in computational languageEsta pesquisa tem como objeto de investigação o uso de programação open-source por artistas e designers em seus processos criativos. A pesquisa se inicia com a discussão a respeito de novos modos de se pensar a respeito do software, proposta apresentada por artistas e teóricos das novas mídias e organizada por Matthew Fuller (2003); acompanha a reflexão do fenômeno denominado por Lev Manovich (2013) como “cultura do software”; e se adentra nas particularidades do universo criativo e colaborativo das comunidades ligadas ao open-source. Neste contexto, iremos destacar dois tipos de software, o Blender e o Processing. O Blender é um programa de computador de código aberto, desenvolvido pela Blender Foundation, de forma colaborativa, para modelagem, animação, texturização, composição, renderização, edição de vídeo e criação de aplicativos interativos em 3D, como jogos e apresentações. O Processing é um aplicativo que permite escrever, editar, compilar e rodar a linguagem Java, um tipo de interface que permite a aproximação de artistas do código de programação para a realização de suas obras. Projeto iniciado em 2001 nos laboratórios do MIT por Ben Fry e Casey Reas e um grupo de voluntários, o Processing é uma linguagem de programação open source e um ambiente de desenvolvimento integrado (IDE), voltado para a criação nos campos da arte e design visual. Essa plataforma tem sido utilizada por artistas de todo o mundo e agrega um grande número de discussões em fóruns e outras redes sociais. Um dos destaques mais atuais em relação ao processing é sua capacidade de se ligar a ferramentas free hardware, como o Arduíno. Este estudo propõe realizar uma cartografia dos principais tipos de trabalhos poéticos desenvolvidos no processo artístico a partir de cálculos gerados em computadores. O corpus da pesquisa se limita a obras que utilizam exclusivamente programas de código aberto em sua criação, atendendo às exigências do The Open Source Initiative. A pesquisa busca compreender o que caracteriza a produção poética desenvolvida a partir do uso destes programas em código aberto, e outras ferramentas de codificação em linguagem computacionalConselho Nacional de Pesquisa e Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico - CNPqapplication/pdfhttp://tede2.pucsp.br/tede/retrieve/44592/Guilherme%20Esp%c3%adndula%20da%20Rocha.pdf.jpgporPontifícia Universidade Católica de São PauloPrograma de Estudos Pós-Graduados em Comunicação e SemióticaPUC-SPBrasilFaculdade de Filosofia, Comunicação, Letras e ArtesSoftware livreArtemídiaProcessos de criaçãoFree computer softwareArtemídiaCreation processesCNPQ::CIENCIAS SOCIAIS APLICADAS::COMUNICACAOComunicação e processos de criação em código aberto: um estudo sobre sistemas de visualização de dadosinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersioninfo:eu-repo/semantics/doctoralThesisinfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessreponame:Biblioteca Digital de Teses e Dissertações da PUC_SPinstname:Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo (PUC-SP)instacron:PUC_SPTEXTGuilherme Espíndula da Rocha.pdf.txtGuilherme Espíndula da Rocha.pdf.txtExtracted texttext/plain207225https://repositorio.pucsp.br/xmlui/bitstream/handle/20809/5/Guilherme%20Esp%c3%adndula%20da%20Rocha.pdf.txtf0e498fe294fb90b7635f440dc4a8cc4MD55ORIGINALGuilherme Espíndula da Rocha.pdfGuilherme Espíndula da Rocha.pdfapplication/pdf2906550https://repositorio.pucsp.br/xmlui/bitstream/handle/20809/2/Guilherme%20Esp%c3%adndula%20da%20Rocha.pdfb83558b7b166936b005a850c35377729MD52LICENSElicense.txtlicense.txttext/plain;
