Resumo: This investigation was inspired by the teachers s lack of knowledge about the students reality of Youth and Adults Education program. This study presents the student s profile from a Youth and Adults Education program and one student s life s history analysis, trying to understand the social relationships that constitute. The goal is to contribute with the educators of this and others programs of Youth and Adults Education so they can focus their look on the student and base their education s actions in the reality of the assisted group, comprehending their thoughts, their language and how he perceive his own reality. The research was done in two phases: the first one using a questionary which had the aim of identify the general characteristics of a student s group that attend the program. That resulted on the establishment of his profile. The second one included a choice of a person who with his life s history narrative brought elements for the comprehension of his constitution as a person, as an identity that is constructed in the relationships that are established with nature and the human world. The investigation brought up some important questions that can add to a bigger involvement between teacher s educative action, and the desire of the youth and adults to learn and come to the school

O estudo apresenta um quadro referente ao perfil dos alunos atendidos por um programa de EJA e a análise da narrativa de história de vida de um destes alunos adultos alfabetizandos, procurando compreender as relações sociais que fundamentam a constituição de sua identidade. O objetivo é contribuir para que os educadores desse, e de outros programas de educação de jovens e adultos, voltem o olhar para o aluno e pautem as ações educativas na realidade do grupo atendido, compreendendo seu pensamento, sua linguagem e como ele próprio percebe sua realidade. A pesquisa foi feita em duas etapas. A primeira, com uso de um questionário que tinha como objetivo identificar características gerais do grupo de alunos que freqüenta o programa, resultando no estabelecimento de seu perfil. A segunda, com a escolha de um sujeito que, por meio da narrativa de sua história de vida, trouxe elementos fundamentais para a compreensão de sua constituição como sujeito, como identidade que se constrói nas relações que estabelece com a natureza e com o mundo humano.
