This study aims to map the different views, speeches, practices and logic promoted by supporters of lifestyles that aim to reduce the consumption of material possessions. Through an ethnographic approach, we analyze the speeches of two anticonsumerism groups present in cyberspace, as well as the content of some interviews. The goal is, therefore, to identify the different issues that permeate adherence to a simple life. Initially, it makes a brief explanation of a few anti-consumerism movements and actions promoted today. The goal is to identify some points that distinguish one proposal from the other and how each initiative is positioned in relation to the consumer society. Later, it focuses on analysis based on the content of discussions between group members from Vida Minimalista and Simplicidade Volunt?ria, present on Facebook social networking. It also analyzes the content of some of the interviewee's speeches. It is apparent that it is not the concern for environmental impacts that leads individuals to reduce their consumption patterns, but different issues, which are sought to be deciphered and discussed in this study.
